Reality television was created in 1949 by Allen Funt. Funt’s original intention for reality television was to catch simple, candid acts on camera for entertainment. However, over the years and especially within the last decade, reality television has taken that simple source of entertainment and turned it into a monster of harmful acts and degrading slurs that are negatively affecting America’s youth. This is a problem because America’s youth is copying what they see on television. What they see on television they view as harmless entertainment, however this website will show you that that is not the case. This website shares information about the nature of the problem, why the problem exists, possible solutions to the problem, and how we as University of Kentucky students can help this problem.
